Lasema Jjimjilbang: The Ultimate Korean Spa Experience

I love going to spas and massage wellness centers regularly. I go there to relax and have a good massage specially when my body is aching due to stress or hard workout in the gym . One of my favorite spas is the Korean spa in Makati called Lasema! I like it because it's very near my place and the massage is awesome. Lasema's price is also reasonable and they regularly have a sale in group buying sites like Metrodeal and Ensogo. Please take advantage of these groupon sales because it's half the price. At a discounted price of PhP495 (US$11.50) you can experience a legit Korean spa experience and a good massage! If you are using a voucher be sure to call them three days before your scheduled visit. I've been in this place several times now and my experience was really good. Recently I invited two of my friends to try it out and here's our experience.

My and my friends (Sheila and Aja) at the entrance of Lasema Spa in Makati City. They were very excited. Lasema also sells Korean ice cream like Melona.

Before entering the lockers we were given these key bracelets. These bracelets contain the key to the lockers. It is also used if you want to buy something inside the spa.
We were given two blue small towels and a set of t-shirt and shorts. Grey for the guys and pink for the girls. You will also be given a robe if you will have a massage.
The place is very quiet when we arrived. I recommend going here on weekdays. This place is usually full every Fridays and weekends and it's noisy.
Aja prepared our lamb towel. She really knows this thing. I thinks she's a Korean in her past life haha.
Before we entered the spa rooms, we ordered this cold Korean Ginger Tea. It's so refreshing and tastes like our own salabat. This costs PhP100 (US$2.25) per container.
There is a small canteen in Lasema that serves Korean dishes and instant noodles but the price is kinda high. The instant noodles' price is doubled. I do recommend the Korean dimsum and the grilled egg.

We are now ready to start our spa adventure! This is the universal sign of being Asian! LOL.

Sauna # 1: Oak and Clay (5-10 minutes) - The heat in this room is tolerable.

We saw some Koreans doing this thing so we just copied them LOL.
Sauna # 2:  Salt Charcoal (5-10 minutes)
Tip: As per the Korean who I interviewed, you need to lie down and let the pebbles touch your back so they can absorb all the negative ions in your body. As you can see on the pic my sweat was really dripping. I think I excreted two liters of sweat in 10 minutes LOL.
Sauna # 3: Dome Clay (5 Minutes) - This is the hottest of all the saunas and there's no sandglass timer inside. I learned that this is where they cook the eggs for hours. I love the smell of this sauna.
Inside the clay dome is this beautiful flower design. The smell inside the dome is very relaxing and calming.
This is Aja on her sweaty glory. You can see the eggs behind her! The eggs are cooked for 8-10 hours!
Sauna #4: The Ice Room (5 minutes) - Sitting inside the ice room helps the muscles and other tissues to recover especially after the workout. It also closes the skin pores.

There is a newly opened nail art room in Lasema. It is very expensive like PhP500 per nail!
After Sauna 1,2,3,4 we rested and ate Korean instant noodles and the famous grilled egg. The egg tastes really good. It has a certain flavor that came from the clay dome room.

On the photo above: Getting ready for the massage! Please schedule this as soon you arrive at the spa area.
The massage was really good. My body aches were all gone. It's time to sleep in the cave room.
Sheila having her own moment before sleeping.
Lasema has a good Wifi connection. It's fast around 3Mbps. Here is the password.

Important Notes
  • You can stay for 12 hours. The spa is open 24/7.
  • Shoes are not allowed inside the locker rooms and spa area.
  • You cannot wear anything in the wet area. Prepare to be nude. Use the small blue towel to cover your private parts. The male's wet area is separate from the girls. The common area is the dry sauna (Jjimjilbang).
  • The wet area has "flavored" pools: Green Tea and Ginseng. It also has the steam sauna and shower rooms.
  • Toiletries like shampoo, body wash, toner, moisturizer, combs, powder, cotton buds, hair blower and water are provided.
  • A weighing scale inside the locker is available in case you want to monitor the your weight after your sauna sessions.
  • Mats, wooden and soft pillows are available for sleeping.
  • There is a tv in the common area.
  • There is a reading room where old and dilapidated lazyboy couches can be used.
Conclusion
Lasema is a very good spa! I will rate 9 out of 10 stars! I will come back for sure.
