Review: Tamron AF 60mm f/2.0 SP DI II LD IF 1:1 Macro Lens (Canon Mount)

Photo is from http://www.popphoto.com

Specs:
  • Designed to be used only on APS-C format DSLRS.
  • 60mm lens becomes a 96mm when mounted on a cropped sensor DSLR
  • Minimum focus is about 9" (230mm)
  • It weighs only 12.5oz  (355g)

    Things I like:
    • Creamy bokeh. It produces very pleasing out-of-focus elements
    • Images are quite sharp with good color & detail reproduction
    • Most macro lenses only have f/2.8, this lens has f/2 producing even shallower depth of field (more bokeh!)
    • 1:1 True Macro.
    • Internal focusing. The front element does not move.
    • Build quality is great.
    • The price! I bought this with 60% discount.

    Things I do not like
    • Slow autofocus. Canon's USM is still faster. I fixed this by using the auto-focus assist lamp of my flash.

    Uses:
    • Still life and product photography
    • Portraits (Great for close-ups & head-and-shoulders)

    Thanks,

    JR
